It’s hard to find RSS for authors on most site (including The Verge). Wish it were easier. I never got mad about Google Reader itself, but it was a wonderful entry point for using RSS to take control of your news feed for so many people.
-
Yeah we need an RSS revival, it's the only thing that will save us from the tyranny of these hell feeds!
-
If you want a really curated feed reader,
@Inoreader lets you set up a lot of filters too so you’re not seeing anything irrelevant. I sync mine into@reederapp and Save To Instapaper -
ty!! Someone else just suggested that one too

This is a fun reminder that Google killed the beloved RSS organizer Google Reader to push people to Google+ and now we have neither.
-
Feedly is ok but Google Reader was better IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY.

@bluechoochoo who set up@maggiet1m3 would know how. You could do an account like this for every writer of interest, then put them in a Twitter list.http://bluechoochoo.tumblr.com/post/163160519666/how-to-get-notification-every-time-theres-new … -
Thanks for plug. :D That post now obsolete (dang I gotta clean up that blog. Not giving up on Tumblr, just procrastinating, heh heh). But yeah, if you don't wanna code and the author page has RSS feed, then RSS -> IFTTT -> Twitter is your "just the links!" solution.

that's why
@maggiet1m3,@ronant1m3,@gabet1m3,@emilyt1m3 were created. Just the links. -
yeah, I was thinking, for somebody like
@TaylorLorenz there could pretty readily be a @/TaylorReads sort of thing that posts t1m3-style updates for a hand-picked selection of writers -
Might as well put this out there for the power lurkers: most of the code for "just the links" bots for: - NYT (api) - Vanity Fair CMS - New Yorker CMS are linked in the drama bots' profiles. Coming soonish: WaPo, Daily Beast thanks,
@Extr4Extr4. -
yeah, I've been meaning to update
@tuckerthestreet since@tuckerhiggins started working at CNBC, so I could likely add support for that outlet too
